Pix coming!

Stay tuned - as soon as I figure out how to do it, I will post some pictures of GC students tutoring in our ACT prep program at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center in East St. Louis, Illinois. Last evening was our first session for this academic year, and we had a great time!

Planning to Serve

We have spent the first month of school discussing the meaning of community and beginning to think about how faith and service intertwine. We have done this through reading John Lewis's spectacular little essay, "Walking with the Wind" (which is also the introduction to his memoir by the same name), Jim Wallis's essay "Faith Works," and (this week), Jim Hightower's essay, "Rebellion is What Built America."

Now, it's time for each of my students to consider the avenue of service that seems to match their personal strengths and sense of mission. Below they will post a comment telling whom they will partner with for their service project and tentatively what their project will be.

It will be interesting!

Post your Blog Address

My students will have their blogs created by Monday, September 1. Their addresses will be available as comments to this post. I know I will enjoy investigating their thoughts and perspectives, and I hope you do too.

Theme Verse
